APUS APUS (aka five meals and a swift)
(Narrative Short, 8min, 2025)

Featuring:
Naomi Yang, Lucy Sheen & Nadia Shaikh

Shot on 16mm film
Hand-drawn animations by Ana Projects

Apus Apus centres around the character of Bea, whose everyday existence in the city is charted by a series of meals. This film forms part of a triptych of shorts entitled III: Turritopsis Dohrnii, Apus Apus and Grylloidea. Three short interconnected films providing a glimpse into moments of the everyday. Predominantly captured in single, fixed, shots and filmed on 16mm colour stock, III looks at situations and scenarios within which characters react to both one-another, along with the environment around them. As well as sharing form, these moments are tied together by the idea of the natural, its intricacies, beauties, imperfections and deviations.
